GET SMART: ‘KAOS’ and ‘CONTROL’ in the EAL Classroom

PD Fest, Melbourne, November 21, 2015
Victoria University

As language teachers we are often faced with situations where we have to give up control. An element of ‘KAOS’ may be experienced when we give learners increased autonomy through student led activities in and out of the classroom or when we incorporate technological innovation into our teaching for the first time. As teachers, we need to embrace a little controlled ‘KAOS’ to reach new levels of student and teacher engagement and motivation.

This full day of professional development includes opening and closing keynotes, four sessions of 45 minute workshops in four streams, exhibitor space, lunch, networking opportunities and an early evening social event.

The PD Fest aims to provide professional development for teachers by teachers at UECA and EA member institutions. Workshops are presented in four streams:

- Student CONTROL
- Technological Innovations in Teaching & Learning
- Great Lesson Ideas Incorporating 'KAOS' and 'CONTROL'
- Student Engagement Outside the Classroom

Please see the program below for more details.

Note: UECA will sponsor the best session at the Melbourne PD Fest to present at the UECA Sydney PD Fest in 2016.
