2012

2011/2012 - UECA Mission North East Asia

The major activity for UECA in 2011, the UECA Mission to Japan, Korea and Taiwan was cancelled on the very day the list of participants was confirmed with Austrade, the day the earthquake and resultant tsunami struck north of Tokyo.

Fourteen institutions had committed to the 2011 Mission to Japan and Korea, and 12 to go on to Taiwan. In 2012, 21 institutions participated in the UECA Mission, with 20 attending events in Japan, 19 in Korea and 8 in Taiwan. Feedback was very positive, and has assisted with planning future events.

These Missions are seen as a valuable marketing opportunity to highlight the range of academic language and training programs which our sector specialises in, to consolidate and extend relationships with partner universities, and to increase enrolments in mainstream programs. Another result is a strengthening of the UECA group and momentum. Of the 22 institutions which completed a UECA survey following the 2012 Mission, 80% committed to a Mission in 2013.

Plans are progressing for the 2013 Missions and discussions are underway with our partners.
