Developing and implementing a new ELICOS curriculum

Abstract
The presenters will report on their experience of developing and implementing a new curriculum, ensuring that the curriculum enhances the student learning experience, necessary stages, pitfalls, what worked, what they would do differently.

Bio
Ella Rosso, Tania Hadlow and Rachael Andrews were recently involved in rewriting the ELICOS curriculum for the Canberra Institute of Technology (TAFE). They have varied pre-teaching backgrounds in law and economics and have worked in universities, TAFE and the NGO sector with international students, migrants and refugees.

Rachael Andrews has experience teaching English language in Canberra and in Japan. In Australia she has taught in both VET and University settings.  Rachael currently works in the People Development team at the Canberra Institute of Technology as the Learning and Development advisor. She holds an MA in TESOL and a Bachelor in Economics and Asian Studies (Indonesian). In the teaching space, Rachael enjoys the challenge of motivating students and helping them achieve their goals.
