SESSION 2A

Sophie O'Keefe, English Australia
Targetting Teachers' PD Needs

Abstract
In 2016, English Australia developed a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Framework for ELICOS teachers with the help of a steering committee of ELICOS professionals and through sector-wide consultation. The aim of the Framework was to provide leadership to the ELICOS sector in continuing to raise its standards of teaching practice and to provide a platform to share high quality professional development resources from around Australia and the world in a meaningful and structured way.

The result is a CPD Framework which equips teachers to manage and enhance their personal Professional Development (PD) portfolios through a range of selected resources and activities and encourages teachers to reflect and collaborate.

In this session, participants will explore how to use the English Australia CPD Framework to target their individual PD needs and access PD resources. Teachers will be invited to consider and discuss why it is important to take control of their own professional development journeys and how this can work for their benefit as well as walking away with a new set of tools to do this.
