A unique aspect of the program at the Centre is that each new student is offered the opportunity to acquire an "Australian Friend"

The Language Centre is located in the middle of the campus of the University of Newcastle, 10km from the city centre. Newcastle is famous for its excellent surfing beaches, and the famous Hunter Valley Vineyards.

The Centre is well equipped with modern technology to assist students learning English, this includes two audio language laboratories, a computer language laboratory, and a computer laboratory with internet access.
Language Centre students have access to all facilities of the University (libraries, sport centre, computer labs etc)
A unique aspect of the program at the Centre is that each new student is offered the opportunity to acquire an "Australian Friend"(this may be a student from the University, a member of the local community) who will assist the student with settling in the local community. They will also be a "conversation partner" for the student.
