The English Language Centre at Swinburne University of Technology
provides high quality general, academic and recreational
English language programs for international students who
wish to improve their English for academic or other purposes.
The English Language Centre is located on
the university campus at Hawthorn – a cosmopolitan
residential district of Melbourne about 10 minutes from
the CBD. English language students have access to all campus
facilities and student services which include the library,
sports centre, free on-site e mail access, internet connection
and wireless connectivity.
The Centre’s English for Academic Purposes
courses (Level 2) and Intensive English contain subject-specific
course components to effectively prepare students for their
particular area of study. Successful completion of English
for Academic Purposes (Level 2) allows students to directly
enter all courses at Swinburne University (PhD programs
excepted).
All English courses include the use of multi
media and language laboratories, and students have full
access to the Centre's highly regarded independent learning
centre which offers a broad range of English language learning
materials and activities. Excursions and social events which
are designed to help students adapt to life in Melbourne
are also included in all courses.
